Well I've put off writing down about my "class" chalet long enough. You notice that I've quoted "class". You'll find out soon enough why I've typed it that way. It was from Wednesday, 27 February till Saturday, 1 March. No reason for my delay though. It's just, I've been so caught up reading Supernatural fan fictions...hehe.
Anyway, last Wednesday, I met up with Kel, Yu En and Cai Ling at Tampines Interchange. I was contemplating whether or not I should bring along my clothes and stuff because I was only able to sleep over on the 2nd and 3rd nights. So in the end, I decided not to bring my things and thank goodness too because boy did they have lots of stuff to carry.
On our way to the chalet, (by the way, we booked the exact same chalet we booked last year, for nostalgic purposes) we contacted Shereen because she was already there because she was attending the GV chalet, which was very near to ours. Our plan (only us girls) for the first night was to eat dinner, watch a movie and go Kbox. Basically spend the whole night out. But I would be going home after the movie because I can't go to Kbox. Well that plan was pretty much shoved up our asses instead because Shereen told us that she couldn't join us because of some lame excuse that left us pretty upset at her.Shereen, I don't want to sound mean, but you actually hurt our feelings because it WAS supposed to be our last class chalet.
The Girls' Night Out plan was slowly being shredded. At first, there was supposed to be 7 of us girls. But one of us, who is from China, had to go back home because her parents insisted on it. That was still ok because she didn't have a choice and besides, there were still 6 left. And then, another one of us, Shuyu aka Jojo, DECIDED not to come. I'm emphasizing on "decided" because she already knew that we were booking the chalet from that date to that date, but she chose to instead join her other friends on a school trip to Tioman, which clashed with our "class" chalet. I tried to persuade her to change her mind, telling her that the chalet was going to most likely be our last class gathering. Well, obviously I failed. So then, we were reduced to 5.
And then, when the day of the chalet came, in fact, when the time came for us to check in to the chalet came, Shereen had to do what she did. She could have at least told us about it the day before or something. We wouldn't have felt so let down then. By that time, all of us didn't have the mood for chalet anymore. What was more, we discovered that practically none of the guys would be joining us. I wanted to say "fuck you", but they are the ones who are at the losing end because they've missed out on our last "class" gathering. So I think "screw you" is more appropriate.
Still, the 4 of us went out to eat dinner at Secret Recipe, but didn't watch a movie because we didn't make it in time. Could have watched a later movie but the MRT and bus services would have stopped by then. At 9, I left them while they headed on to go sing their lungs out...hehe.
On Thursday the next day, I came by the chalet after lunch and from there, Kel, Shereen, Cai Ling and I went to the Fairprice at Tampines Mall to buy some things for the barbecue. We met up with Fu Cai and Ming Kuan at the Interchange. After buying our dinner at the food court, we headed back to the chalet. Including Fu Cai and Ming Kuan, Shereen, Jing Xiong and Jia Sheng joined us on that night (Jing Xiong and Jia Sheng also came from the GV chalet). Galvin dropped by for a while too. The night was spent playing Monopoly, which Fu Cai dominated, watching tv and popping in and out of the GV chalet, which was having their barbecue, for some of us. Fu Cai and Ming Kuan went out to Changi Village (I think) at some point during the night. Ming Kuan told us that when they were walking back to the chalet, he saw a ghost at the old Changi Hospital. I don't know whether he really did see a ghost, but whatever. This is not the first time he said some scary stuff about around the chalet. He also said that the banana tree that occupies the view of the kitchen is haunted. That scared the girls. Even though I believe in ghosts, I'm not exactly scared (I can't say that I'm not scared at all, but I'm definitely braver than most girls, especially my class girls who insisted that somebody waited outside the toilet at the chalet whenever they had to go =D). But I did feel little scared of the tree when I decided to wash some plates around 4 am on Saturday morning. At that time, everybody else was asleep, but I decided to stay awake and hoped to clean the place up a bit, but after I felt that fear buzzing in my chest whenever I approached the kitchen to wash the plates, I decided to drop it and watch some videos from my laptop instead. On Friday, when I woke up, around 9 or so, the chalet was considerably emptier because Shereen, Jia Sheng, Ming Kuan and Yu En had to leave early in the morning to attend a pre-bonding session for their community trip to Sabah. I guess Fu Cai also left with them. Kelyn and Cai Ling were still sleeping. Since there weren't any guys around, I didn't wear my tudung. I was only clad in my t-shirt and trousers. But about 1/2 an hour later, while I was sitting in the living room fiddling with my laptop, Jing Xiong suddenly appeared from one of the bedrooms. I totally forgot about him. And I was like "Oh shit!". He told me that some of the people from the GV chalet wanted to put some of their stuffs at our place because they also had to attend the pre-bonding session. I think he didn't realize that it was such a big deal to me, catching me without my tudung. I barely listened to what he said and said something like " Howcome you're here?! I thought all the guys left!!". After that I think he realized that I was fussing about not having my tudung on and started to apologize. Man...what a way to start your day. Anyway, after that incident, I left the chalet and went home because I had my organ class in the afternoon. I came back in the evening with the chicken and satay which my mother had bought and seasoned for us. And that was when our barbecue started. Siyu and Jojo joined us later that night. Mr Tan Aik Nan, our former supervisor also came. And he was surprised with our turn-out. Obviously he was expecting a lot more people. So in total, including Mr Tan, we had 9 people. Pathetic right? Our previous class chalet was so much better because everybody came. I really don't understand why they didn't come to our recent one. But still, even though there were only 9 of us, it made the atmosphere more homely. Like, it showed me who my true classmates are. I guess there is a silver lining to every dark cloud after all. Siyu couldn't sleep over so Kel, Shereen and I sent her to the Interchange using my family car which I drove over to the chalet. When we came back, they were packing up the barbecue stuffs because the fire kept dying. The rest of the uncooked chicken were cooked in the microwave. I was skeptical at first whether or not it can be done, but apparently it can. Jing Xiong asked whether there was any other way to cook the satay because we didn't have any oil, only butter. And you can't use butter because it can get burnt, believe me, I've tried when I wanted to make scrambled eggs that morning. So, I suggested holding the satay over the stove. He tried, but gave up soon after because it was too hot...hehe. Later on, Kel, Shereen, Cai Ling and I played Monopoly while Jing Xiong and Yu En watched a movie. I forgot where Jia Sheng went. But Cai Ling and I played on until around 4 am. The others had already turned in. I decided to stay awake because I still had to get up at 6 am to pray my Subuh. So I thought, since it's only 2 more hours, I might as well just stay awake and watch videos or clean the place up or something (and you know what happened during this time =D). Cai Ling on the other hand wanted to get some sleep but the rest of the girls had positioned themselves so that she couldn't squeeze in with them. In the end, she had to settle for the couch...hehe. After praying, I couldn't stand it any longer, and decided to nap a bit after Yu En woke up and went out to watch tv. I woke up at 8.20 am and found that the girls were all still asleep, including Yu En who had managed to squeeze in beside Shereen. Check out time was 9.15 am. So I quickly woke them up. We left the chalet at around 9.20 am. I sent the girls to Pasir Ris MRT station. I wanted to offer a ride to Jia Sheng and Jing Xiong as well, but there just wasn't enough space for everyone. It was then that I realized, that that would probably be the last time I would be seeing them both until graduation. Time really passes by very fast. And that was it. END
