Today, at around 11am, I had my organ exam at Thomson Plaza. And I think I can say that I'll be taking the exam again. I knew this would happen, so during the whole process, I wasn't as nervous as I should be.
I made a lot of mistakes for my Improvisation, especially for the sight-playing portion. Don't know what had happened. 1st I kicked the sound in wrongly, so the start-up of my sight-playing was late, and after that, I just kept playing the wrong notes. I've never played that bad before. My Motif was also a mess, and my Sight-playing was worse. My repertoire was ok, a few slips here and there, and some parts that can be improved on. But still, the experience was worth it. Now I know how to prepare myself better for my next exam. There's just a load taken off me after I stepped out of the examination room.
The examiners' standards and critics were harsh (well of course, they have to be since it's a teacher's grade), but they were nice. They just gave honest critics and pointed out my weaknesses, so that I know how to improve myself. There wasn't any condemning at all, or a tone that sounds as though to make you feel stupid. I'm sure I'll be more confident for my next exam. I will start preparing just as soon as my classes start again.
