Yamaha Festival

On Sunday, Kelyn, Yu En, Cai Ling and I went to the Yamaha Festival held at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA). It used to be at VCH. But I don't know why it's changed. Even though everybody has a view of the stage, there aren't as many seats as there are at VCH. It started at 7:30pm. Since I didn't know how to go there by myself, we decided to meet at Bugis MRT station first. Only Cai Ling seemed to know how to go there, but she wasn't certain as to which building it was.

The organ competition was, more specifically, held at Campus 3. We went the wrong way, which was a LONG, wrong way, until Cai Ling realized that we only had to walk in the left direction after the pedestrian crossing, and the building would be there. But luckily, we still managed to get in before the whole show started. I think I was the only one wearing the tudung. Felt a bit of an outsider.

The performers were all very impressive of course. One of the children was so cute. After the performed, he produced a "gun" and waved it at the audience. Going with his theme song I guess, which was James Bond. One of the child performers, a boy, was so sissy. Kelyn and I kept giggling whenever he came out on stage. It's just the way he walked la!

After that, we had a short interval and then, it was time for the ensemble category. None of them impressed me very much, especially the group that called themselves "Africans". They looked the part, but their music wasn't African. Still, they won the audience's vote. Must have brought along a lot of the family and friends.

And after that, we had guest performers. 1 young Japanese guitarist, but he's now living in Singapore. 5 years now. He took up the guitar here. Quite impressive. I mean within 5 years, he's mastered the guitar and can perform in front of everybody. And then, there was 1 bass guitarist, a young guy also. Then, there was a local aspiring singer. She still needs a lot of work, but hey, she's only 14.

The whole thing was just too long for me. I don't remember whether the previous festival I went to was thing lengthy. I've decided that I won't go to the festival every-year. I'll get jelak.

Well, my organ exam is drawing every nearer. This Thursday in fact. I've been do'a-"ing" everyday to Allah to help me do my best on the day. I just hope I won't make a fool of myself.
