ITP

I wanted to post this yesterday, but I was just too sleepy to complete it. So I shall now write it tonight.

OK...I started my Industrial Training Programme yesterday at Bedok Water Reclamation Plant, under PUB. Those who were under PUB were asked to report to HQ first, which is the Environment Building at Newton, for a briefing and then, we were to start our first day. In total, there are 6 of us Galvin, Yee Pong and Ming Kuan are posted at HQ itself. Kelyn is posted to Ulu Pandan, and Wei Ci at Kranji. Wei Ci couldn't come to HQ with us because she has maths lessons on Mondays.

After we were briefed, our reporting officer told us, for Kelyn and I, who are not posted at HQ, to wait a while before heading to our destinations because our supervisor will be meeting us at a certain place to bring us to our work place. I happened to be the first one to leave. It was a bit scary because I'll be splitting from the people I know and entering unknown waters. But hey...I've got to face this sooner or later.

My supervisor picked me up from Tanah Merah MRT Station. He then introduced me to a few people, namely the operations manager, the plant manager, and the lab workers because I'll be doing a lot of lab work. Despite lacking my own desk(the 2 lab workers have barely enough space to call their table a desk, the people there are nice.

After the introductions, my supervisor gave me a booklet on saftey and a thick book of Standard Methods. I was to familiarize with the saftey aspect. But I got bored after 1-2 hours. I mean, don't tell me I'm supposed to enjoy myself by reading something boring(even though it's supposed to be important) for the whole afternoon. I approached my supervisor when I couldn't take it anymore. One thing is that I didn't want to appear as though I'm just there to shake legs. My supervisor then told 1 of the lab workers to show me what she's doing. So I just followed her around, and see what she did.

Today, I went site visiting. It was pretty interesting, but at the same time, very very smelly. I got a headache after I came back from the visit. But the site visits were short. So I was bored for the better part of the day. And tomorrow, the staff will be having a health screening in the morning. So I'll most probably be left alone. I'll bring my MP4 to entertain myself. I'll only begin some lab work on Thursday, that's why I'm bored out of my wits right now. I think I'm going to go site visiting again tomorrow in the afternoon and on Thursday morning. I hope to get some pictures!
