Now that school's over, I've suddenly found myself with a lot of time in my hands. The obvious thing to do is look for a job right? Well I have, but I've only applied at 1 place. And that is the library. They've yet to get back to me. I'm choosy when it comes to searching for a job because my main concern is whether or not they'll allow me to wear tudung, let alone pray.
Still I have been keeping myself busy. Twice a week, I have religious classes(mengaji). On Friday I have my organ lessons and on Sunday I go to madrasah. But those only occupies a fraction of my time. The rest of my time is spent immersing myself in Supernatural! I just can't help it. The show has practically taken over my life.
Everyday, I would visit the Supernatural fansite at www.supernatural.tv. It has the most up to date information on the show and the actors. Then, I would read the fanfictions; they're fan-made stories of the show. And I read these stories at www.supernaturallville.net. But www.fanfiction.net has more. In fact, it has over 14,000 stories. Supernatural has the 2nd highest number of fanfictions. 1st is Buffy the Vampire Slayer with over 35,000 stories and counting because there are still many hardcore Buffy fans who write fanfictions.
So, with over 14,000 stories, how can I not go bored huh? I would read story after story. It's not as though I enjoy all of the stories, but it's more of the urge of finding a nice story which has properly interpreted the essence of the show and of course the characters. Some of the stories I've read just made me wince or roll my eyes because sometimes the fans write wrong information about the show into their stories or made the characters just so different. For example, on the show, Dean is portrayed as the protective, macho, snarky brother who hides away his emotions while Sam is the empathetic one who isn't exactly emotional, but doesn't hide his feelings behind a mask. But in some of the fanfictions that I've read, they've taken the extremes of the brothers' characters; Dean is very hardened and overly protective of his brother, who takes in every bullet, punch and kick thrown at him so that his brother won't have to suffer them while Sam is super emotional and needs a hug from Dean whenever he breaks down.
Every time I read something like this I'll be like come on la! Do you even watch the show? And shockingly, people actually like those stories! What is worse is there're even incest stories!!! I became an unknowing victim once. At that time I didn't know what incest was. I didn't even know about fanfiction. One day, I was surfing for Supernatural stuff when I came across a story written by a fan. So I thought, ok, let's check it out. I was reading until I came to the middle and just thought, what the hell is going on? Where are the supernatural bad guys? I continued reading and realized, to my horror, what was happening. I quickly closed the window. And at that time, I thought that was what fanfiction was about and refused to read any more Supernatural stories, until much later, when I came across supernaturalville. So that was how I got hooked to fanfiction.
After getting so frustrated over the wrong infos and wrong interpretation of the character, I've finally decided to try my hand at writing a story. It is still in its planning stage. Hopefully, I'll do the show some justice. But mind, there are quite a few fantastice stories, and I've been keeping the ones that I favour.
Anyway, Supernatural aside, last Thursday, Kel, Yu En and I met up for lunch. I was kind of expecting that it'll only be the 3 of us from the start because the others are kind of occupied ( I don't want to say too much).
We met up at Cineleisure but ended up eating at KFC at Taka. It was nice, even though it was only the 3 of us. We chatted and caught up. Unfortunately, I couldn't stay very long because I got to pray. So after I left, Kel and Yu En went to watch a movie. Next Wednesday, we'll be going bowling! I can't wait because I've never bowled before. Got to remember to bring my camera..hehe.
