Police interview On Thursday this week, I went for my interview at the Police Headquarters. It was for the position of MSO.
The HQ is a very impressive building, inside and out. I was the first one there; I arrived at 9 am, when I was supposed to report in at 9.30. Anyway, after 9.30, one of the officers gave me a booklet that contained the list of positions available and the details.
There were 7 in total. And out of the 7, I was only qualified for 2 of them. And they were Acclaims Officer and Assistant Logistics Officer. The others required me to hold a diploma in Mechanical Engineering or IT. At that point, I was thinking, "Huh?"
I was there for MSO, but this is something else, although they are about giving management support to the different departments. And what's more, the 2 positions that I'm qualified for only required the person to possess an 'O' Level. Now, the newspaper clearly said that you have to have a polytechnic diploma.
After running all these thoughts in my head, I just told myself to go through with the interview and do very well for the MOM one.
But the interviewers (there were 3 of them) were nice people, unlike the Kinokunya one(s). Oh, and by the way, I've received a letter from Kino, saying that they've rejected me. Well, even if I was accepted, I wouldn't want to work for that Snob. It was just for a Retail Trainee but the mood of the interview was like as though I was trying out for a high and important position.
Anyway, the interviewers at the HQ were friendly. They smiled and tried to put me at ease. A big contrast from Kino. I don't want this job, because I'd rather get the MOM one, but if they want me and if my interview with MOM didn't turn out so well, I'd join them. I mean, what choice do I have?
2nd Mendaki lesson
I've resolved to continue teaching the Sec 1 and 2 classes.
Because I haven't received my copy of their assessment books, I was limited to what topics I can teach. So in the end, I got them to write a narrative composition. I also went through their Journal entries and corrected their mistakes. I'm not saying that I'm perfect at English, but I'm still good enough to correct their wrongs.
I plan to mark their compositions and point out some of the more common mistakes to them in class. I think I'll also write down some Singlish sentences and get them to correct them because Singlish was evident in most of the students' Journals.
Let's see how the 3rd lesson will go.
